ProgramsA family literacy approach recognizes the key role that parents have in the development of the language and literacy skills of their children, particularly in the early years before children enter school.
Bookmates’ programs are fun family experiences where adults and children learn together. They range from a one-time event to multiple sessions over a number of weeks.
These programs provide the opportunity to build on partnerships with parents, encouraging them to enhance their own skills while enjoying some fun time with their child. Families who attend are helped to become more connected to the community and more aware of the resources available to them.
Bookmates can provide these programs to community groups (in Winnipeg and the surrounding area) but most are run by community people who have had Bookmates training.
